Partnering with Arid Communities and Technologies (ACT), various initiatives for recharging groundwater were undertaken – (1) De-silting and improvement of the 3 existing percolation structures, (2) Construction of percolation wells, and (3) Building recharge pits consisting of rubble, gravel, and sand to divert over land flow in the pit and percolate it to the ground to increase or maintain groundwater levels.
Additionally, rainwater will be harvested with the aim of zero water run-off, thus converting the Ashram hills into huge water reservoirs. This will have a cascading effect of raising the water table levels in nearby fields, which will also be a boon for the nearby farmers.
