Shrimad Rajchandra Widow Welfare Programme provides support to widows through distribution of essential items.
There are more than 350 lakh widows in India. Particularly in the rural areas, several widows are rejected by the husband’s family. In addition to the emotional impact, widows and their children often find themselves in extreme poverty.
Only about half of India’s female population is literate, and many women are unaware of their rights to inheritance and government pensions. Due to the lack of formal education, many widows struggle to secure steady employment. Sometimes forced to run away from home, young widows, particularly those with children are especially vulnerable to violence and sexual exploitation.
Shrimad Rajchandra Widow Welfare Programme serves widows who have lost their financial and moral support after the death of their husband. Many of these women have not been formally educated, so it would be a struggle to make enough money to feed their children. We deliver essential supplies like flour, rice, pulses, sugar, oil, jaggery, etc. at their doorstep and help in sustaining their families as well as support them in getting employment.
