Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care’s Glittering Performance at the Tata Mumbai Marathon Philanthropy Awards Night

A tremendous platform for NGOs to spread awareness and raise funds, the Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM) has established itself as the country’s premier sporting charity event in terms of funds raised, participation, and scale of impact. Through this year’s TMM, Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care aimed to raise funds primarily for the construction of the new 250-bed multi-specialty charitable Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital for the less privileged in South Gujarat.

To celebrate this special philanthropy aspect of the Marathon and recognise the fundraising performance of NGOs and individuals, TMM organises a grand awards ceremony every year. This year’s TMM Philanthropy Awards Night was held on 30th April 2019 at the Royal Opera House, Mumbai, and was attended by several dignitaries including Shri C. Vidyasagar Rao – Honourable Governor of Maharashtra; Mr. Adille Sumariwalla – President, Athletic Federation of India; Mr. Manoj Indulkar – VP and Head of Operations, India, Tata Consultancy Services; Mr. Harish Bhat – Brand Custodian, Tata Sons; Mrs. Tara Sharma – Film Personality.

Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care bagged several awards and honours:

  • Highest Fundraising NGO

Amongst the 272 participating NGOs, Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care received the award for the Highest Fundraising NGO for the 9th consecutive year! Having raised a record-breaking amount of over ₹5.75 crores, this marks the highest-ever fundraising performance at the TMM since its inaugural participation in 2011.

  • NGO with Highest Number of Corporate Teams

The motivating support of 30 corporate teams reflected the unshakable trust and faith that corporates have in the charitable initiatives of Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care. This marked the 7th time in a row that it has been the recipient of this distinguished honour.

  • NGO with Highest Number of Change Runners

The Change Runners category includes individuals who have raised a minimum of ₹1.50 lakhs for their selected NGO. Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care had a passionate team of 46 Change Runners supporting its cause.

  • NGO with Highest Number of Young Leaders

The Young Leaders category includes fundraisers up to the age of 21 who have raised a minimum of ₹75,000. The focused and dedicated effort of 41 Young Leaders resulted in the winning of this award for the 4th year running!

  • Change Legend

Joining an exclusive group of ‘Change Legends’, Mr. Abhay Jasani – President, Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur, and Sanjeev Shah, Executive President – M&A and Corporate Strategy at Bennett Coleman & Co Ltd. received the prestigious Change Legend trophy for raising over ₹1 crore each.

  • Change Icon

Meera Mehta was selected as ‘Change Icon’ of TMM, along with Indian Olympic medalist MC Mary Kom and IPS Officer Shri Krishna Prakash. Starting off at the age of 12, Meera has raised over ₹1 crore through her 8-year journey. She was also the highest fundraising Young Leader at TMM 2019.

  • Diamond Privilege Level

The final feather in the cap was achieving the Diamond Privilege Level, the highest Privilege Level awarded to only 2 of 272 participating NGOs. Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care had also previously received the award for the Best Motivational Zone and Best Costume (Group) on race-day.

This year also saw a unique pre-award symposium aimed at helping NGOs further improve their fundraising campaigns, processes and strategies. Volunteers from Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care were invited to be part of the panel to share their experiences and learnings with functionaries of over 200 NGOs.

This award-winning feat was widely covered in media like The Times of India, Hindustan Times, Sandesh.
