Shrimad Rajchandra District Early Intervention Centre (SRDEIC) was chosen by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of Maharashtra to organise a training programme from June 11-16 for about 100 faculty members of the Early Intervention Centres in Maharashtra. The participants included paediatricians, medical officers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, optometrists, special educators, staff nurses, speech therapists and audiologists from the Early Intervention Centres from across the state of Maharashtra. The participants came from places like Amaravati, Jalna, Nashik, Osmanabad, Pune, Sangli and Satara. The workshop was inaugurated by the Assistant Director – Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of Maharashtra, Dr. Bhimashankar Jamadar.
The workshop aimed at sharing SRDEIC’s experience and skills towards management of various health issues for children up to 18 years of age, as envisaged under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram of Government of India. The knowledge and hands-on training helped the participants in early identification and intervention for children at risk of developing disease, defects, deficiencies and developmental delays. This will not only help in preventing disability and morbidity but will also improve the cognition and intelligence amongst the children. Each centre was provided with training materials and manuals, including educational posters to be put up in their respective centres. The participants also thoroughly enjoyed the elevating atmosphere of the Shrimad Rajchandra Ashram, Dharampur and participated in yoga and motivational sessions.
This is indeed a feather in the cap of SRDEIC, which has been recognised as a model centre by the Government of Gujarat and is sharing its good practices with other such centres across the country.
