As the scorching summer sun beats down on the country, Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care volunteers and Youth Group members across cities put their compassion and community spirit into action to provide relief to those most affected by the heat. Spread across 2 days, a drive was conducted to distribute refreshing chaas (buttermilk) to the poor and homeless, construction workers and community workers.
Youth Groups of Dahisar-Borivali, Ghatkopar, Matunga, Mulund, Navi Mumbai, Santacruz and South Mumbai and those from Ahmedabad, Chennai, Pune and Vadodara embarked on a mission to combat dehydration and offer a moment of respite. In a coordinated effort, they distributed chaas to over 75000 people.
Such was the impact of the drive that in Vadodara, a policeman joined the distribution efforts to rickshaw drivers and bikers, simultaneously managing traffic while in Dahisar- Borivali, a child beneficiary enjoyed the chaas so much that he started helping the volunteers and stayed till the end! Displaying their commitment to the cause, volunteers even climbed to the 22 nd floor of an under-construction site to give chaas to the workers.
Efficiently managed by over 300 volunteers, this endeavour not only quenched thirst but also exemplified the power of collective action in serving the community's most vulnerable members during challenging times.
