Immediate relief to the people affected by Kerala floods

In August 2018, severe floods affected the state of Kerala in India due to unusually high rainfall during the monsoon season. In what was to be Kerala’s worst flood in nearly a century, many people died within a fortnight while thousands were displaced. Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care responded to this dire situation by providing immediate relief to the victims by distributing food-grains, clothes and daily essentials to individual houses, relief camps, village interiors and even a home for the mentally challenged.

The children of Shrimad Rajchandra Divinetouch (SRD) made the most of their summer-break through a value strengthening, gadget-free Spiritual Sumer Retreat from 27th May- 30th May at Shrimad Rajchandra Ashram, Dharampur. More than 900 children from different parts of the country congregated for this 4-day extravaganza. While the children were being nurtured with spiritual, talent and physical activities, an interesting dimension was that of seva which provided them with an opportunity to do something for the good of others. Such is the love and magnetism of Pujya Gurudevshri that the children not only deepened their devotion, increased their understanding of spirituality, built on their skills but also engaged enthusiastically in seva activities.

Shrimad Rajchandra Gurukul is the first secondary school under the State Board of Gujarat to receive ISO 9001 and ISO 29990 certifications!

In the goal of making education more accessible, a crucial barrier is to ensure that educational aids such as notebooks, pens and pencils, compass boxes, writing-pads and school bags are made available and affordable. 13 years ago, SRLC identified this as a key challenge faced by families in rural Gujarat. Offering a solution, SRLC launched Shrimad Rajchandra Educational Aids, an annual distribution drive through which high quality educational aids are distributed to less privileged students at highly subsidised rates. Since inception, educational aids worth over Rs. 30 crores have been distributed to students.

Shrimad Rajchandra District Early Intervention Centre conducts a Training Workshop for the Government of Maharashtra

Shrimad Rajchandra District Early Intervention Centre (SRDEIC) was chosen by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of Maharashtra to organise a training programme from June 11-16 for about 100 faculty members of the Early Intervention Centres in Maharashtra. The participants included paediatricians, medical officers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, optometrists, special educators, staff nurses, speech therapists and audiologists from the Early Intervention Centres from across the state of Maharashtra. The participants came from places like Amaravati, Jalna, Nashik, Osmanabad, Pune, Sangli and Satara. The workshop was inaugurated by the Assistant Director – Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of Maharashtra, Dr. Bhimashankar Jamadar.

SRLC UK Donates a Bird House to Animal Charity

SRLC UK volunteers recently donated a bird house to the Greenmount Bird Hospital, a charitable hospital dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of injured, ill and orphaned birds. This bird house will become home to over 300 birds who will find ample space to rest and recover, while being very close to their natural habitat. Several of the birds in the hospital are unable to fly and suffer from problems such as tumour or blindness — the hospital does not refuse treatment to any bird and will provide them shelter in this new facility.

A novel charity fridge launched on a street of Dubai

In the sprawling metropolis of Dubai, UAE, the summer months can be very harsh for the underserved. In order to provide relief to as many such people from thirst and hunger, SRLC set up a ‘Charity Fridge’ on a street of Dubai. ‘Charity Fridge’ is an initiative of SRLC Dubai along with ​UAE Food Bank and ​Dubai Municipality, where those passing by can take whatever they need. The Charity Fridge was inaugurated by Pujya Gurudevshri on a recent visit to the UAE. Mr. Ihissa Hasan Eisa, Regional Manager UAE Food Bank, also attended the inauguration. The fridge is stocked with cold water, juices, butter milk and other 100% vegetarian food items by SRLC volunteers as well as by few local restaurants, free of cost. On the day of the inauguration, more than 100 construction workers visited the Charity Fridge. This is yet another novel initiative by SRLC to further its cause of serving those in need.

Enthusiastic donors say “Love is RED” at blood donation camps

Blood Donation is one of the ideal forms of donation; a selfless action. On the occasion of World Health Day, SRLC organised several blood donation camps titled “Love is RED” across several housing societies and at Kohinoor Hall, Mumbai for members of a trade association. The term ‘RED’ stands for Relate, Extend and Donate, which signifies relating with the need for blood; extending ourselves in the spirit of universal brotherhood and donating blood. Over 300 donors participated in these camps towards a selfless cause.

SRLC Singapore volunteers visited Sunshine Welfare Action Mission Home, a home for the elderly founded by Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The volunteers provided moments of happiness by engaging the residents in devotional songs and interesting games. The elderly residents responded enthusiastically with an active participation. Volunteers were elated in the satisfaction of a Sunday well spent, spreading joy and happiness to those who need the most.

SRLC at the TCS World 10K Bengaluru 2018

SRLC participated at the TCS World 10K held in Bengaluru 2018 with a team of over 150 runners with more than 100 runners competing in the open 10km run and the others participating in the 6km Majja run. Through this participation, SRLC raised funds for the construction of the new 250-bed charitable multi-speciality Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital (SRH) in Dharampur.
