Deyaan Udani, a 7-year-old resident of Sydney, Australia and an SRLC volunteer, became the youngest organ donor in India when his heart, kidneys and liver were harvested/donated after the doctors at a Mumbai hospital declared him brain dead. Deyaan was touring India with his family when he suffered from a brain clot and died at a Mumbai hospital.

When Rupliben’s husband was diagnosed with a major illness that prevented him from working, she was suddenly faced with the responsibility of being the breadwinner in the family. She struggled daily as the family slipped into poverty. When she was recruited at the Shrimad Rajchandra Mahila Gruha Udyog, her life changed forever.

Bijaliben Dalvi, an expectant mother, was bitten by a Russell’s viper, one of the world’s most venomous snakes. The timely administering of an antidote saved Bijaliben’s life, but led to complications for her unborn baby. The next day itself, her infant was prematurely delivered with an extremely low birth weight of 1.75 kgs. When the baby did not cry and did not start breathing, she was rushed to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital.

When Dhanesh met with a near-fatal accident, he could not control his legs and lost control over his bladder and bowel movements. He searched for treatment, but was not successful, and spent over two years confined to his bed.

Somabhai Ganvit, a resident of Asura village was brought to SRH, suffering from intense pain in his upper abdomen, experiencing convulsions and heaviness after even a small intake of food. Medical tests diagnosed inflammation of the pancreas and presence of stones in the pancreatic duct.

Hinchlal Chaudhari, a 52-year resident of Mumbai was admitted to SRH with a non-healing ulcer of his left leg, extending from the mid-thigh to the knee. The patient had sought initial consultation from reputed hospitals in Mumbai but his condition kept on deteriorating. His employer shared the problem with SRH volunteers and the patient was immediately admitted there.

It was a medical emergency when the foetus of a pregnant cow died in the womb itself. The cow’s body was swollen and she was in excruciating pain. The cow would die if the foetus was not removed in time. The Shrimad Rajchandra Jivamaitridham’s  veterinary team was called in and they successfully performed a caesarean section surgery, giving the cow a new lease of life.

Sanjay Parmar’s family was sustaining itself well and looked forward to a secure future, but for a list of fate!  Sanjay’s father suffered a crippling paralytic attack, which made him bed-ridden and unable to work and earn for his family.  Sanjay’s mother and brother started working in the farms but earned meagre wages, unable to sustain their family. While Sanjay wanted to pursue further studies in the field of Science, the high cost of private schools kept him away and there were no public schools in the vicinity.

In 2013, Maharashtra was hit by a severe drought, one considered as the region’s worst in 50 years. The situation was so bad that only a litre of water would be available for use per person each day, for all activities.

The importance of agriculture in the life of Pandu, a tribal farmer, is immense. He is the head of his family and supports it through his hard work. Receiving two oxen free of cost from Shrimad Rajchandra Jivamaitridham has helped him increase his agricultural yield significantly. Today, Pandu has expanded his activities to produce rice, bajra and other pulses and leads a secured existence.
