Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care has taken a significant leap in environmental education by engaging youth in hands-on sustainability projects. As part of a recent college exchange programme, 13 students from Pune participated in the ‘Gaucrete Project’ at the Shrimad Rajchandra Jivamaitridham.
Students learned to transform cow dung – often overlooked as waste – into eco-friendly bricks using a unique manufacturing technology, that blends dung with soil and limestone, to create radiation-absorbing and temperature-regulating bricks.
Through the FEEL programme (Faith for Earth Empathy Leadership), a collaboration with the UN Environment Programme, over 100 students from Vidya Vikasni School, Vasai were trained on the Miyawaki method of forest creation. This method involves creating a microforest in a small space of land by planting different types of indigenous trees. The students were guided on how they can design their own Miyawaki forest by building a blueprint they can eventually execute on their school campus!
