A slowdown of urban activity resulted in massive movement of migrant workers back to their homes in rural areas. With livelihoods at stake and increasing spread of disease, people in rural areas began to avoid testing and eventual treatment. Moreover, these remote areas already face an insufficient and inadequate healthcare infrastructure and lack of medical professionals.
On witnessing these grim realities, Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care immediately responded to the burgeoning crisis. With the guidance of Pujya Gurudevshri Rakeshbhai, initially on 25th April 2021, a fully functional 50 Bed – Shrimad Rajchandra Dedicated COVID Health Centre was set up in the tribal area of Dharampur, South Gujarat.
However, there was an alarming rise in cases in the area which necessitated additional healthcare infrastructure to isolate and treat patients displaying mild to moderate symptoms. Thus, on 11th May, a new 150-bed facility Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital COVID Care Centre in association with the Atul Institute of Vocational Excellence in Ozarpada village in South Gujarat was opened, thereby creating a total infrastructure of 200 beds for Covid treatment in the region.
