Children look forward to their summer vacations as it provides an opportunity to engage in and explore things and activities that they like. The children of Shrimad Rajchandra Divinetouch (SRD) made the most of their summer-break through a value strengthening, gadget-free Spiritual Sumer Retreat from 27th May- 30th May at Shrimad Rajchandra Ashram, Dharampur. More than 900 children from different parts of the country congregated for this 4-day extravaganza. While the children were being nurtured with spiritual, talent and physical activities, an interesting dimension was that of seva which provided them with an opportunity to do something for the good of others. Such is the love and magnetism of Pujya Gurudevshri that the children not only deepened their devotion, increased their understanding of spirituality, built on their skills but also engaged enthusiastically in seva activities.
• Children joined the medical outreach programme of Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital and visited villages with the medical team. Through short skits, stories, poems, charts, they raised awareness on topics like health awareness, nutrition, ill-effects of smoking and the importance of environmental cleanliness. During this medical outreach visit, children also distributed footwear to the rural people, as for many, even this basic necessity was out of reach.
• Children participated in the Shrimad Rajchandra Educational Aids Programme where books were distributed to less privileged students in the rural areas at a highly subsidised cost.
• Children visited the Shrimad Rajchandra Jivamaitridham to bond with the animals. They engaged in activities like washing, bathing, milking and feeding cows.
• Children planted trees to commemorate World Environment Day at the Shrimad Rajchandra Vidyapeeth grounds.
