A jewellery making workshop benefits the less-privileged women in Mumbai

Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care bestowed with the ‘COVID Hero’ Award

Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care’s Vocational Training Programme continues to empower women from low income groups by conducting free training courses for developing various skills such as mehendi, cooking, make-up and jewellery making. These courses have proven to be instrumental in assisting these women develop a stable form of supplementary income to support their families and move towards financial independence.

To celebrate International Women’s Day by further inspiring and encouraging the women, special session was organised for participants of the vocational training. A jewellery course was conducted by a renowned designer who taught participants the art of ‘Ganthan Jewellery’, a traditional technique of hand-making jewellery. Women were introduced to a new method of making necklaces, ear-rings and bracelets using interlocking wires and artificial pearls. As a surprise, women were delighted to receive the set of jewellery they had made as a takeaway gift! The session ended with a group photo session to capture the wonderful moments of the celebrations.
