Millions of people worldwide have been affected by the COVID-19 crises. Among some of the hardest hit are the nearly 1.8 million labor workers and their families in India, mostly from Maharashtra and Gujarat, trying to reach their homes over a thousand kilometers away. They have to spend weeks, waiting and traveling, often with no shelter, and very little food and water. For example, there have been nearly 200,000 people waiting outside train stations in Mumbai for days to board a train. Some of them may have cleaned our gutters, repaired our roads, brought vegetables for us, while some may have helped us reach home safely in an auto or a cab on a rainy day. On behalf of Shrimad Rajchandra Love & Care (SRLC), Austin, we are raising funds to help feed these families and help them reach their homes safely.
