April is observed worldwide as Autism Awareness month, aimed at increasing understanding, promoting early diagnosis, and fostering inclusion for individuals with autism spectrum disorder. Joining this global movement, Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital and Research Centre, in collaboration with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), hosted an event with diverse activities. The hospital staff participated in educative lectures and team-building sessions led by doctors from IAP. Around 80 autistic children with their parents attended awareness talks on autism, oral hygiene, and behaviour management. The event also marked the inauguration of a parents support group and a small book library, both designed to promote community support and learning. A fun-fair provided entertainment through games, food stalls, and a mini train—delighting children and parents alike.
The children were given a bouncy ball as a gift, which has therapeutic effects like helps in sensory regulation, improving focus and attention, enhancing motor planning and coordination etc. Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital and Research Centre’s efforts reflect its commitment to fostering an inclusive environment and empowering families.
