The Humanitarian care team of Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care in Mumbai; regularly conducts free short-term vocational courses to empower women from low-income groups. Recently, a basic mehendi course and Spoken English course was conducted in association with Sahyog Chehak Trust, a social organisation in Asalpha.
Basic Mehendi batch:
20 women from slums of Kurla and Ghatkopar participated in the basic mehendi course that lasted for a period of 5 months. They were taught various forms and designs, currently in trend.
Sunita Singh, a proud ex-student, now trained as a teacher, inspired the women by sharing her own success story and skills acquired.
A mehendi competition marked the conclusion of the batch, to gauge their progress. Winners were awarded prizes and a certificate of participation was given to all. Everyone enjoyed playing games and were served snacks in the last party class.
This was the beginning of a new chapter of self-reliance, as they were now eligible to go for orders with continued monitoring, guidance and support of Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care.
Spoken English batch:
Another batch of women, participated in Spoken English Level 1 course, spread over 22 interactive sessions.
Usually, these beneficiaries have an inferiority complex in the beginning as they are unable to talk fluently in English. Due to this, they are neither able to be of help to their children in their studies nor do they have confidence to go for a job interview. After completing the course, they were in a better position to understand and converse in English, with an improved self-confidence.
A presentation class marked the end of the course, where each of them got an opportunity to showcase their newly acquired English-speaking skills. A certificate of participation was given to each of the students thereafter.
Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care continues to uplift the lives of several less-privileged women, helping them unlock their hidden potential and support their family income.
