A 5-month old kitten was recently brought to Shrimad Rajchandra Animal Nursing Home from Valsad, with a complaint of recurring rectal prolapses. Cats with rectal prolapses often face a high-level of pain and discomfort, and if untreated, the issue may result in long-term complications.
After thorough check-up, the team of doctors applied local anaesthesia and performed a purse-string suture around the area. This procedure helped provide relief to the animal, who was then observed and nursed back to full health before being discharged.
The cat’s owner was also educated regarding the underlying causes of this issue and was informed about the importance of regular deworming. He was also advised to follow nutritious and healthy dietary regimen for the kitten to avoid future recurrences.
