A premature baby, born in the 7th month of pregnancy and weighing a mere 1.3 kgs, was referred to Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital and Research Centre and was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
After performing a thorough check-up, the medical team diagnosed the baby with a rare condition known as ‘Meckel’s diverticulum’ – identified by a swelling in the small intestine. Understanding the need for immediate treatment, the team of surgeons undertook a complex corrective procedure.
Following the successfully surgery, the infant continued to receive meticulous treatment and monitoring and is now on its way to a full recovery!
