Celebrating Women's Day by Empowering Women in Need
A unique week-long Women’s Day celebration was organised in the form of workshops and vocational training sessions for women from low-income groups across Mumbai.
Workshops were conducted with the goal of empowering the women to generate livelihood and supplementary income using their skills. Through the workshops, women were trained in the art of soap making, candle making, chocolate and chocolate bouquet making, etc. The events were conducted in the community centres of local social organisations at Asalpha, Kurla and Mumbra. An awareness session on breast cancer was also organised in association with K. J. Somaiya Hospital and Research Centre.
The sessions culminated with music, enthralling games and snacks. More than 100 women benefitted from these workshops!
