The Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care New York centre partnered with the Turkish Consulate in New York City and PortX, a transportation service company, to donate supplies to the victims of the disastrous earthquake that struck the regions of Turkey and Syria. These supplies included sleeping bags, baby diapers, toiletries, sleeping bags and nutritious packaged foods.
Volunteers also assisted PortX in packaging the donations received into pallets that were then shipped in containers to the impacted areas.
Volunteers of the Parsippany centre organised a unique fundraiser at a Shoprite grocery store, where volunteers encouraged shoppers to donate towards raising charity to support victims. The centre was also able to find a corporate match for these donations, though which the total amount raised effectively doubled. Donations were offered to Direct Relief, a partner of Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care, USA, who is currently providing urgent medical aid to the hardest-hit areas.
As the countries are still recovering from the calamity, such efforts will help make a difference in the lives of those affected.
