Hemalatta, a 29 year old woman from rural Gujarat, is a successful entrepreneur who currently runs her own catering business along with her husband. Just a few years ago, this was a far-away dream for her, and in order to make it a reality, she enrolled in the Shrimad Rajchandra Mahila Gruha Udyog, where rural women are trained in various crafts and get access to employment opportunities.
Hemalatta was trained in mini-khakra production and packaging, and over time, she also learned how to make several other snacks. During her training at SRMGU, Hemalatta and her husband, Sanjiv, began serving the snacks produced at MGU at the cafeteria of Shrimad Rajchandra Vidyapeeth. Through this experience and her training at MGU, Hemalatta learned several life skills and grew in self-confidence. Soon, she and her husband decided to start an independent catering service. Today, they cook food at their home and provide catering service in the SRV canteen!
Hemalatta worked with extreme dedication and passion to make her dreams come true, and is an inspiring role model for rural women!
