In the sprawling metropolis of Dubai, UAE, the summer months can be very harsh for the underserved. In order to provide relief to as many such people from thirst and hunger, SRLC set up a ‘Charity Fridge’ on a street of Dubai. ‘Charity Fridge’ is an initiative of SRLC Dubai along with UAE Food Bank and Dubai Municipality, where those passing by can take whatever they need. The Charity Fridge was inaugurated by Pujya Gurudevshri on a recent visit to the UAE. Mr. Ihissa Hasan Eisa, Regional Manager UAE Food Bank, also attended the inauguration. The fridge is stocked with cold water, juices, butter milk and other 100% vegetarian food items by SRLC volunteers as well as by few local restaurants, free of cost. On the day of the inauguration, more than 100 construction workers visited the Charity Fridge. This is yet another novel initiative by SRLC to further its cause of serving those in need.
